      Special Olympic Bharat National Championship Athletics- 2010 for the intellectual disabled conducted from 9-13 Jan 2010 at RDT Sports Academy stadium, of Anantapur in Andhrapradesh. A joyous march parade by the participants is highlight. Anne Ferror programme Director, RDT, and Ms Anita RamChandra, joint collector was the chief guests of closing ceremony to give away awards and prizes. Air Marshal DENZIL KEELOR, chair person of national SOB, Mr. I.H. Surati, Area Director, Andhra Pradesh and other officials also were present.

       In this five day events of athletics for the intellectual disabled, 851 athletes participated escorted by their 220 coaches, 225 volunteers and 100 officials of Special Olympics Bharat representing 23 states.

      The events included 25 mt to 1500 mts and rely running, Running long jump, Standing long jump, shot put, and soft ball throw.

       While Kerala represented with Maximum no. of 174 athletes, the far away state of Manipur represented minimum of 4 athletes. Kerala bagged 47 gold, 41 silver, 31 bronze and Andhra Pradesh bagged 28 gold, 31 silver, 29 bronze and stood in 2 nd place with 102 participants. Manipur bagged 4 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze. Special Olympic international is spread in 180 countries with 27 millions of intellectual disables athletes registered. In Asia Pacific the largest part of about 70% of identified intellectual disabled registered athletes are in India, says Assistant Area Director of SOB-Andhra Pradesh and national trainer -Asia pacific C.Rajasekhar.

      2008 Special Olympics Korea National Summer Games

      Held in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, Korea during 21 24 Aug. 2008. 800 athletes from Korea as well as 100 from East Asia Programs (Hong Kong, China, Macau, Taiwan) were invited for the Games.

      The athletes competed in 9 sport events (Athletics, Aquatics, Bocce, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Roller Skating, Table Tennis and Volleyball). HA programs were fully and successfully conducted with all 7 disciplines participating.
